Cllr Sally Noble, the Council's cabinet member for the environment, has given local Parish Councils an update on the Better Recycling service. A combination of several heatwaves, staff holidays, sickness absence and the death of an East Suffolk Services operative had placed significant pressure on operations.
She advised that the service is now improving and the remodelling of the more rural rounds have been finalised and will start imminently. This, along with the fact that more drivers have been recruited, should massively improve the service in our area.
However, it is recognised that some residents have experienced repeated disruption and a poor level of service during this period. Cllr Noble stated that this is not acceptable and offered apologies to those affected. East Suffolk Council would like to thank residents for their patience during the early stages of this new programme.
