Parham Parish Council

About Parham Parish Council

Parish and Town Councils are the most local and direct form of democracy in England and Wales. As the first tier of local government, they play a vital role in representing and supporting their communities.

In Parham, your Parish Council manages local services, responds to planning applications, looks after the three village greens and leads biodiversity projects like the management of Jubilee Pond — all with a focus on maintaining the character and wellbeing of the village.

What Does Parham Parish Council Do?

  • Responds to planning applications and development consultations

  • Manages the upkeep and biodiversity of the village greens and ponds

  • Supports local environmental projects and public footpaths

  • Represents the village’s interests to district and county authorities

  • Ensures the efficient and effective use of the Precept (our share of Council Tax)

The Council is made up of seven elected members, all residents of Parham, who volunteer their time to ensure the Parish is well-run, sustainable and thriving.

We always welcome new ideas and suggestions. If you have something you’d like the Council to consider, you are very welcome to raise it for discussion at our bi-monthly meetings. Please email the clerk for assistance.

When and Where We Meet

  • Meetings: Six times a year, normally on the second Tuesday of every other month, starting in January.

  • Location: Jubilee Annex, Parham Village Hall

  • Start Time: 7:15pm

Each meeting includes a Public Forum near the beginning, where parishioners can bring forward any local issues or questions.

Other Key Meetings and Groups

  • Annual General Meeting (AGM): Held each May to elect officers for the coming year and present the annual accounts.

  • Annual Parish Meeting: A separate, statutory gathering of all parishioners, held between April and June. Local groups present reports, and wider village matters are discussed.

  • Working Groups: Formed for specific projects or areas of interest, such as Biodiversity and Flood Prevention and Protection, throughout the year.

How We Keep You Informed

All Council notices, including election notices, meeting dates, agendas, and minutes, are uploaded to this website and where possible, displayed on the noticeboards too.

You can stay up to date easily — and there is a village mailing list which is managed by a resident, for communicating urgent news and items of interest.
